The ABF is pleased to announce that Mr.Jose Damiani, the President of the World Bridge Federation, will be visiting Australia during April.
Mr.Damiani is visiting Australia to congratulate the ABF, as well as Zone 7, on the continuing growth in our membership numbers. Mr.Damiani is scheduled to arrive on Monday 22nd April and will be attending a welcome function at the premises of the NSW Bridge Association at 6.00pm.
While in Sydney Mr.Damiani is also scheduled to meet with the Secretary-General of the Australian Olympic Committee on Tuesday afternoon to discuss various aspects of our application for admission. The World Bridge Federation has been admitted to the Olympic movement as a recognised international federation and it is anticipated that bridge will become a scheduled event at the Winter Games.
Mr.Damiani is also scheduled to meet with members of the Management Committee to discuss the possibility of Australia hosting the World Championships in 2005. This would obviously offer a wonderful opportunity for the promotion of bridge in Australia and for the emergence of major sponsorship for the game.
Mr.Damiani will make himself available, where possible, for media interviews on our dynamic game.
Mr.Damiani is scheduled to fly out on the 24th April.
