AUSTRALIAN BUTLER PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIPS

These events are open to all players subject to the specific criteria for each category.

Categories:  

Open   Women   Seniors (born before 15 July 1946)  Restricted (<300MPs at 31 March 2001)

Format:

         Open and Women:

    Stage I:         8 board matches: format dependent on entry   
               Starts 7.00pm 13 July & concludes ~5.00pm 15 July
    Stage II:        14 pair Mitchell format (10 board matches) with the first 7 pairs in
                        each direction qualifying for Stage III
                Starts 8.00pm 15 July & concludes ~5.30pm 17 July
    Stage III:       14 pair Howell format (14 board matches)
                Starts 10.00am 18 July & concludes ~5.30pm 20 July

Seniors:

    Stage A:     10 board matches: format dependent on entry
              Starts 8.00pm 15 July & concludes ~5.30pm 17 July
    Stage B:     14 pair Howell format (14 board matches)
              Starts 10.00am 18 July & concludes ~5.30pm 20 July

Restricted:     10 board matches
              1.30pm 18 - 20 July (one session of 3 matches each afternoon)

AUSTRALIAN PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Played in five categories: Open, Women, Seniors, Mixed, Youth.
Two sessions 1.30pm and 7.30pm Saturday 21 July

Pairs must be from the State or Territory and be nominated by the organising body of that State or Territory.   An additional place in each of the Open, Women, Seniors' and Mixed fields will be available to the highest placed pair in each of those categories in the Canberra Pairs (to be held in the ANC Congress on the evenings of 16 and 17 July 2001).

AUSTRALIAN INTERSTATE TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Played in four categories: Open, Women, Seniors, Youth as a double round robin of 24 board matches (if numbers warrant, a triple round robin is used) with the top two teams in each category proceeding to the Final.
Round Robin:  Starts 10.00am 22 July & concludes ~5.30pm 26 July
Finals:            Starts   8.00pm 26 July & concludes ~5.30pm 27 July
                      Final 20 boards of one match will be shown on VuGraph - 2.30pm 27 July

Teams are nominated by the organising body of each State or Territory.
