Introducing our Open Team
Eight teams contested the Open Play-off in November last year and at the end of 6 days, the winning team was the four-person team of Peter Gill/Sartaj Hans and Nabil Edgtton/Andy Hung. Bearing in mind that each match in the play-offs was 124 boards, it was very impressive to see a four-person team win the event. The team augmented Liam Milne and Tony Nunn to complete their team. Liam and Tony just had a warm-up in the VCC Wally Scott Open Pairs which they won convincingly, effectively leading from start to finish. David Thompson has taken on the role of non-playing Captain. The team is pictured below:

There are 12 teams contesting the Open category in Singapore. They are China, Indonesia, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, China Macau, Japan, India, China Hong-Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Korea. We wish our Open Team the very best of luck.
Play starts tomorrow and teams generally play 3 or 4 matches each day. Australia's draws for the first match tomorrow are:
Open Team plays Japan
Women's Team plays Korea
Seniors A plays Chinese Taipei
Seniors B plays New Zealand
Mixed play Chinese Taipei
Bridge Base Online (BBO) will be broadcasting 4 matches in each round, we don't yet know when our Australian Teams will be featured. The first broadcast will be at 1.30 (AEST) tomorrow when only the Seniors will be playing.
All the best to all of our teams.
