West led the S2, taken by the ace. South, Bill Haughie, ruffed a spade and played a diamond. West might have done better to duck, but in fact played the DA. The H4 switch went two – ten – king.  South played another diamond, nine, jack and ruffed dummy’s last spade. Then came a club to the queen and the CA was cashed, leaving:

South now played the DK and East had no answer. After a low ruff, a spade came back. South ruffed and pitched dummy’s last club. South had to make two of the last three tricks and his game.
