Is 6♣ a contract you wish to reach?
How do you play it from South on the ♥5 lead. You must play the ♥A in case you have a ♣ loser. There are a few lines that work but ruffing both of the ♦s in dummy will promote a trump trick for West. The simpler line that works is to ruff 1 ♦ in dummy, come back to the ♠A and hope the ♣Q comes down doubleton or the ♠ finesse works.

In the Australian Open match, the Bangladesh North got in the auction (effectively showing a weak ♦ hand). Australia played in 3NT and the North hand, in essence, had no entry to run the ♦ suit. Whereas, the Bangladesh EW pair had an uninterrupted auction to 6♣ and played for ♣s to be 2 2. In the Open draw, 4 pairs out of 24 bid 6♣ and 1 pair were successful.

The contract to get to of course is 7♦. The key to getting there is finding the big ♦ fit and South having second round ♥ control and there are no ♣ losers. This is not always easy in a standard 2♣ strong opening from North. A strong ♣ system finds the 10 card ♦ fit early and gets there comfortably.

A popular contract was 5♥ DBL. Where South opens 4♥, West 4NT and North bids 5♥ and West doubles. On the normal ♦K lead, the contract makes.

A commendable result against one of the favourites and a great first day.
Board 10
For the Australian Open team, both NS pairs got to 5♥ doubled. With South declarer and West on lead, the Italian West led a ♦ and then lost a trick in defence and Australia made with an overtrick.
At the other table, South opened 3NT and North eventually played in 5♥ DBL. This time East was on lead but Australia led a ♦ as well. However, no tricks were lost in the play and it made exactly.
