      Comments:
We play simple Acol. Opener has promised 5 + diamonds and 4 + clubs.
      And David's Response:
        Hi Phil,
I reckon the best follow-up is 4C here. A diamond slam is a chance if
partners hearts are weak. Give partner e.g. ª

Ax. If partner's holding in hearts is strong then 3NT may fail
on a spade lead with 5D cold. I would be interested in knowing the full
        deal.
      All the best,

      David Beauchamp
Phil Markey apologised that he was unable to recall the exact deal but
was disgusted that our guru had got it right again- 5D was cold while
3NT, the contract arrived at on the day, failed by two tricks.
