 • Accommodation at the Venue

It has been brought to the attention of the Summer Festival Tournament Organiser that a number of players have experienced problems when trying to book rooms at the new 2018 Festival venue, the Canberra Rex Hotel. Some players saw that for the January dates of next year’s Festival, the website was saying that all rooms were sold. This was also the response for some who rang the hotel and spoke to reservations staff. This is definitely not the case and there are still plenty of rooms, suites and apartments available for all dates.

The Tournament Organiser has had recent discussions with our Rex event manager, Elly Ivill, and we have agreed to the procedure below for making bookings. Please note this procedure requires either a telephone call or email and bookings cannot be made directly online.
The rate sheet for the Festival guarantees an Early Bird discount of 20% on all rooms/suites (which includes two breakfasts where 2 occupy a room/suite) and apartments for all bookings made on or before 31 October 2017. A King Twin has been reduced to $168 per night and all their excellent suites and apartments are well priced.

Traffic Plan for The Rex Hotel

The Rex will have prepared a Traffic Plan to manage all car arrivals from 6pm next Tuesday 9 January. This may impact players arriving to check in after 6pm. Players arriving wishing to access the hotel grounds during the Festival (including for drop offs) should observe the Traffic Plan and the check-in kiosk.
