Day 6 Update
Click below for Pete's Day 5 report.
Apart from the Seniors, there wasn't a lot of bridge on day 6!
Our Open team played two matches and recorded a win against Japan (17-12) and a loss to New Zealand (24-34). With three of the other teams scoring big wins today, Australia dropped to 5th place. With six matches to go in the qualifying, we are 20 VP's behind second place and we will be playing all four of the teams who are ahead of us. Fingers crossed that we can score good wins in those matches.
In the Women's category, we also played two matches with a small loss against China Hong Kong and a good win against Indonesia (51-27). Whilst still in eighth place, the team is only a fraction behind seventh.
It was an extremely quiet day for our Mixed Team who had a small win against India (21-28) and a Bye. They are in sixth place, 27 VP's behind third place.
Unlike the other categories, the Seniors teams had a full day of bridge and played 4 matches. Australia B had a great day with four wins. They beat Singapore B (47-1), India (62-21), China Hong Kong (35-17) and Indonesia B (47-35). They went from 7th to 4th place and are 20 Vp's behind second place. Our Seniors A team had three wins, against Singapore A (23-18), Japan (51-41) and China Hong Kong A (16-8), and a loss against Indonesia A (15-53). They are currently in 8th place.
